Cockroach Extermination In Santa Ana

Cockroaches are high risk pests to have in your home as they carry a wide range of dangerous diseases including salmonella, dysentery and gastroenteritis. Their droppings may also lead to some cases of childhood asthma. Roaches can breed rapidly and are very resilient. It is because of this reason that it is very important to know how to get rid of cockroaches in your home and to act quickly to prevent them from spreading to your neighbors.

Types of Cockroaches

There are three common species of cockroaches found in the home:

German Roaches

German roaches are usually 5/8” in size and are also known as the “croton bug”. The German cockroach is usually brown in color and has 2 dark stripes on thorax. Its wings are as long as the body or slightly overlapping in both sexes. Despite this, they prefer to run or climb and they prefers moist environments such as kitchen cabinets and bathrooms.

Oriental Cockroaches

Oriental cockroaches are usually 1 ½” in size and are dark brown to black in color. Their wings are undeveloped in the females but cover ¾ length of the abdomen in the male. Both sexes prefer to run or climb. They prefers cool, damp environments like drains, sewers and crawl spaces.

American Cockroaches

American cockroaches are usually 1 ½” in size and are also known as the palmetto bug. They are reddish brown in color and usually have a pale yellow area around the perimeter of the pronotum. These roaches tend to be found in dark, undisturbed areas that are high in humidity.
